Kirsty McLean

Kirsty McLean is a graduate of Trinity Laban and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. She was a recipient of the Draper’s Hall Baroness de Turkheim Scholarship and was supported by the Henry Wood Hall trust. She is a Britten Pears Young Artist and a Wigmore Hall Young Artist and has worked at many opera companies across the UK, including the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Glyndebourne and English Touring Opera.

Kirsty made her debut at the Royal Opera House this year in Janáček's Jenůfa as Jana conducted by Jakub Hrůša, her other roles for The Royal Opera include Girl in Trouble in Tahiti and Quartet in A Quiet Place in the Linbury Theatre's Bernstein double bill directed by Oliver Mears and conducted by Nicholas Chalmers, and cover Markéta in Kaija Sariaaho's Innocence.

Kirsty also enjoys a varied career as a classical-crossover artist, performing worldwide from onboard Luxury Cruise Liners to private resorts in the Maldives. Engagements for 2024/25 include cover Ines for Il trovatore at The Royal Opera, in the summer.

She adjudicates across the country and has adjudicated the Kathleen Ferrier bursary award and the John Lyon’s school music competition.
